The difference in my car insurance quote from the bare minimum ($ 356.50) to second or third in each category ($ 1,422.90) is over a thousand dollars. This is for a 6-month quote.
I’m a very safe driver and have never been in an accident that is my fault. Someone rear-ended me once but there was only damage to his car.
Should I risk going with bare minimum coverage? What do other people out there do? What level of insurance do you guys have?

I’m listed as the third driver on my insurance plan and I recently turned right on a red light and apparently didn’t stop before as long as i should have. Needless to say I got 3 points and a 300 dollar fine. I’m with td insurance currently. How much can I expect the rates to go up?

I have 2 cars, I just bought one cash. So I already have full coverage on one car and its paid for 6 months, and I want to add insurance on the other but with a different insurance company because it is cheaper and I will be getting only liability. Is it legal to be carrying different insurances or are they required to be both with the same company? I live in Texas!
I am planning on canceling with my current when the 6 months is up, because I found one way cheaper.

I got rearended 1 1/2 ago and I have got to go to a specialist and they won’t except my health ins. and my auto is max. also, her ins. co. said they will not pay until I settle w/them. The specialist said they have a plan where it is like a credit card and you pay 11.99% ints. on it but her ins. said they would not pay the int on it if they find that I am going to the specialist due to this injury. So, what should I do? I really do not want to have to get a lawyer.

1 and 1/2 what ago? Days, hours, weeks or years? Not that it really matters for your question, just curious. Generally you pay for treatment out of pocket or they wait until you settle, and once you are done with treatment only then when they know the full amount does the insurance company settle with you. They pay only for the necessary treatment that was a result of the accident, up to the limits of the policy, not interest or anything else.
Your best source of information regarding your particular case will be your insurance agent who can give you advice as to what to do and what to expect.

Im a new driver, im 17 and im in the state of illinois. I dont have a license yet, just a permit. My parents only have one car and i cannot afford my own at this time. My parents have allstate and their rates are too high for me. So i contacted another insurance agency and their rates for liability were lower. So, can one car be insured with two different insurances?

I work insurance claims and have seen instances when a car is dual insured, if there is a claim then it MUST be reported to both insurance companies and both companies will split the cost of the claim and if you’re at fault,then the rates will go up on both policies.
Why aren’t your parents working with you on this? Why don’t you guys go to an insurance broker who can find the most affordable insurance for your family needs? Your family may need to switch from Allstate to something else. You could help with the rates. If you drive your parents car you would be simpley added to the policy, you would not be charged a separate premium but the premium of the household would go up because of an additional driver, especially because your a new driver. So , for example , if your parents insurance was $ 90 a month, but you are added and it is now $ 120 a month, just pay your parents $ 30 to make up for the difference. That would be the most affordable way to go.
